Challenge

At the New Enga Hospital, JID is directly supporting the Enga Provisional Health Authority in the procurement, supply, delivery and installation of hospital equipment, consumables, and spares. The challenge was selecting appropriate medical equipment for the size and user requirements of the hospital.

The New Enga Provincial Hospital also required a Clinical Services plan to detail the delivery and models of care.

Services and approach

JID were engaged as procurement and project management specialists to deliver the project. JID provided health advisory expertise and services to write a Clinical Services Plan for the New Enga Provincial Hospital from the period of 2022-2032.

JID worked with the Enga Provincial Health Authority in order to identify Furniture, Fittings and Fixtures, and Equipment for the purpose of delivering quality healthcare to the people of Enga. JID procured the equipment in consultation with the Enga Provincial Health Authority in order to ensure the equipment was fit for purpose in delivering quality healthcare and patient care.

Outputs

JID to date has produced a 10 year Clinical Services Plan for the New Enga Provincial Hospital.

JID has also acted as the Project Managing agent to oversee selection, procurement, and some installation and commissioning of the FF&E equipment.

Outcomes

The Clinical Services Plan will act as guidelines and a benchmark for how the New Enga Provincial Hospital can deliver the best possible healthcare to serve patient needs.

The positive impacts and results of the FF&E installation, commissioning and training are yet to be realised as the project has had numerous delays due to lockdowns, tribal warfare in the region and external factors which have delayed the hospital go-live date. The carefully selected FF&E will serve to deliver specialised patient care at the point of hospital ‘go-live’.
